Wilkes County, the state’s 13th largest county in land mass, is located in Northwest North Carolina, within the Blue Ridge Mountains range. The county seat is located in the center of the County in the Town of Wilkesboro, which joins the Town of North Wilkesboro by the Yadkin Valley River. Travel east along the same river, following the railroad, to discover the Town of Ronda. Wilkes County is a part of the North Wilkesboro Micropolitan Area and sits adjacent to the Piedmont Triad Metropolitan Area, the 30th largest in the U.S.
