Every project is unique, which is why the Wilkes Economic Development Corporation helps new and existing companies evaluate how the incentive and grant process can benefit them. WEDC has extensive knowledge about incentives and grants available through state and local programs. Court HouseLocal town and county grants may be available to encourage growth within Wilkes County when a business is investing in jobs, equipment, improving or building a new facility.  Every project is unique. Start before you make any decisions by contacting Wilkes EDC to confidentially discuss your project to determine if your company's investment is eligible.

The EDC also considers many other granting entities and determines if your project meets the requirements to potentially qualify for additional regional, state and/or federal grants. Facilitation of your grant request is managed by the EDC with local government and/or other granting entities to simplify the process and guide you throughout the process.

All grants are at the discretion of local government, or the granting entity, and must go through an approval process prior to the company's decision to locate or grow in Wilkes County. Grants are always performance based and contractually agreed upon.  The company must first make the investment increasing the tax base and/or create the jobs before grant funds are distributed.
