Wilkesboro, NC —Bevara HPP Tolling Services, a high‑pressure processing (HPP) tolling company, has purchased a building at 1601 Industrial Drive in Wilkesboro, NC (28659) as part of its expansion in food and beverage HPP accessibility in the Carolinas and surrounding states. The acquisition represents a significant local investment and the strategic reuse of a former industrial facility previously occupied by Goodnight Brothers, headquartered in Boone.
Bevara HPP uses High‑Pressure Processing, a non‑thermal technology that preserves taste, texture, nutritional value, and color of food and beverages while extending shelf life and inactivating harmful microorganisms. The technology supports clean-label product development across a range of categories, including juices, ready-to-eat meals, dairy, meat and seafood, plant-based products, and pet foods.
Kevin Forrest, CEO of Bevara HPP, said, “As demand grows for clean, safe, and flavorful products, having dedicated HPP Tolling services in Wilkes County positions our region as a hub for innovative food preservation solutions. Our investment reflects a commitment not only to advanced food technology but also to strengthening local manufacturing capacity and supporting our community’s economic future.”
Bevara HPP is currently evaluating improvements to the building to optimize it for HPP tolling production and cold storage while ensuring it meets food safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and SQF certification requirements. The new facility will feature industry-leading Hiperbaric 300L HPP Technology, enhancing operational capacity and supporting regional economic growth.
LeeAnn Nixon, President of Wilkes EDC, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Bevara HPP’s investment in Wilkes County. Their technology and service offerings add a unique capability to our regional food processing ecosystem, attract new business opportunities, and strengthen the local economy. This project is also a wonderful example of repurposing a former industrial building for modern manufacturing.”
Mayor Dale Isom of the Town of Wilkesboro added, “Bevara HPP’s arrival demonstrates how innovative manufacturing can thrive in our community. Their commitment to local investment and sustainable use of existing infrastructure sets a positive example for future growth. Thank you Wilkes EDC for assisting Bevara HPP in this process.”
Throughout the process, Wilkes EDC (Economic Development Corporation), EDPNC (Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina) and Bevara HPP have collectively continued to evaluate potential local and state-level resources as the project develops, ensuring alignment with regional economic development goals.
