Wilkes EDC Attends 2026 STEAM Expo

April 17, 2026

Wilkes Economic Development Corporation (Wilkes EDC) was pleased to attend and support the annual STEAM Expo, now in its third year, an event that continues to inspire students through hands-on experiences in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

This year’s event welcomed approximately 1,687 middle school students and 433 high school students, along with an estimated 100 to 150 students from surrounding districts. A total of 49 vendors were on-site, representing a wide range of industries and educational partners who engaged students with interactive exhibits and career-focused demonstrations.

Held at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, the STEAM Expo is a unique and impactful use of the facility. It brings together education and industry in a way that helps inspire and prepare Wilkes County’s future workforce. As the STEAM Expo continues to grow, community support and sponsorships will help ensure its continued impact for future students.
