The Annual Spring Job Fair, held April 7 at Wilkes Community College’s John A. Walker Center, delivered another successful year, setting new attendance records and reinforcing the value of strong community partnerships across Wilkes County.
In the months leading up to the event, partners including Wilkes EDC, NCWorks, Wilkes Community College, and other workforce and community organizations met monthly to coordinate efforts. While these meetings typically serve as resource-sharing sessions, they become more focused on Job Fair planning as the event approaches. Discussions this year included event logistics, employer participation, promotional efforts, and the coordination and assembly of resource bags for attendees.
According to event organizers, this year’s Job Fair welcomed 313 attendees, marking a record turnout. A total of 44 employers participated. Employers reported strong engagement throughout the event, with six job offers made on site, 36 interviews scheduled or invited, and 16 applications or resumes collected.
The Annual Job Fair remains an important workforce initiative in Wilkes County, supporting both business needs and regional talent development. Organizers look forward to continuing this collaborative effort and expanding opportunities for employers and job seekers in the years ahead.
